Blog Category: single parent contest

For the third year in a row we are going to celebrate single parents.  I can’t imagine being a single parent.  The day in and day out grind of knowing no one is coming home at 5 o’clock to give me a break.  That everything rest on my shoulders.  That I would have to be both parents to my children.  Not being able to go get my hair done without taking the kids with me or finding a babysitter.  That is exhausting.  It doesn’t matter what circumstances surround someone becoming a single parent.  It matters that they are doing it…all.

Throughout the month of February you can email me your story or your friends story.  Tell me how you are overcoming your struggles.  Tell me why your single parent friend deserves to win this contest.  You may tell as much or as little as you’d like.  Nothing will be published on the blog without your consent.  The winner will be announced midway through March and will win the following:

A free photography session plus a $500 print credit

Complimentary haircuts for both parent and children with Trudi at Illusions for Hair in Bentonville

**A complimentary massage with Heavenly Day Spa in Bentonville

Can you believe it?  It was 74º outside today!  I was so excited to put on my flip-flops…but I know this won’t last.  I had my sunroof open and could feel the warm sun beating down on my face as we drove the kids to the park this afternoon.  It made me long for summertime.  It’s like the ultimate teaser, days like this.

The park was packed today.  Lots of parents relaxing with their kids, enjoying this day.  Tomorrow we may go rollerskating.  I wonder if they’ll let me skate with camera in hand… 🙂

I’m really enjoying this 365 project.  I just take the days for granted too often.  Spending all my time photographing other people and forgetting to document my own life.  I think everyone should do this.  Take a picture everyday of something.  Our pictures are our history.  Especially when our memory fades.  And it will.

The newsletter will be going out Monday.  It will have information about spring mini sessions as well as details about this year’s single parent contest and more.  Sign up to receive it by clicking on the link at the top of the blog under ‘news updates’.

And this is the end of my hot chocolate.  I strolled in about midnight last night from my GNO.  It was so nice to be out with my girls.
